Substitute Paraprofessional Onboarding Process

Welcome to Our Team!

Thank you for being interested in becoming a Substitute Paraprofessional.

Important Note:

The Southwest Ohio Council of Governments (SWOCOG) does not typically employ substitute Educational Aides (paraprofessionals). However, Warren County ESC utilizes them exclusively in some special needs programs operated by Warren County Educational Service Center.

Please follow the steps below to complete the onboarding process.

Step 1: Obtain an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce Development (ODEW)  🖊️

Step 2: Complete Background Checks (BCI/FBI) 🔍

  • If your background check was completed within 365 days of being hired, we will accept the copies.
  • If your background check is older than 365 days, or you haven’t completed one, you will need to obtain a new background check.
