Certified Substitute Teacher (Bachelors Degree) Onboarding Process

Welcome and thank you for being interested in becoming a Certified Substitute Teacher

Please follow the steps below to complete the onboarding process.

Step 1: Obtain a Teaching OR Substitute License through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE)

  • If you already have a valid ODE license, skip to Step 2
  • Resources for applying:
  • When prompted for a Superintendent’s signature, enter one of the following IRN numbers:
    • Butler County ESC-IRN #046086
    • Warren County ESC-IRN #050401
  • License Fees:
    • One-year substitute license is-$25
    • Five-year substitute license is $125.

Step 2: Complete Background Checks (BCI/FBI)

Step 3: Submit Your License and Background Check

  • Once you have:
    ✅ A valid ODE Teaching or Substitute License
    ✅ A completed BCI/FBI background check

    Email Anna or Donna to begin the online employment application.

Step 4: Complete the Online New Hire Packet

  • You will receive an email from NoReplyCogSubs with instructions to begin the online Substitute New Hire Packet.
  • Once you complete the online forms, email us to confirm submission.

Step 5: Set up Absence Management 

  • Attend the online substitute orientation via Public School Works.
  • After completing the orientation, set up your Absences Management account in Frontline.
  • If you need assistance, refer to the New Hire Training Course in you  Public School Works account.
